I am Agronomist with specialization in Agricultural Biology and Soil Sciences. My central research lines include the role of arbuscular mycorrhizae in remediation of soils contaminated with toxic elements, in the nutrition of plants growing in acidic soils and in biotechnological applications of AM fungi (development of bioproducts). Currently, my research is focused on the mechanisms by which the AM symbiosis induce tolerance in plants to cope with the osmotic stress (drought, salinity, thermic stress) and in the efficient P use and acquisition in acidic soils under a scenario of global changes. The above research approaches involve studies at the ecosystem, field, soil, rhizosphere and plant level, using at the present powerful molecular, omics and analytical tools.
