How we rate online casinos for players in Canada
The criteria behind the editorial score, and the limits of what a comparison site can and cannot verify.
We score casinos on licensing transparency, bonus clarity, payments and withdrawals, games, support and safer-play tools. The score is an editorial assessment based on public information, not a guarantee. We do not state that an operator accepts players from a province or holds a licence unless we have confirmed it.
A ranking is useful only if you know how it was built. This page explains what we look at, what we leave out and how the commercial side of the site is separated from the scoring.
We update the method when rules or best practices change, and we mark the date of each page.
Which criteria do we use?
| Criterion | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Licensing transparency | Operating company, licence number and regulator shown and traceable. |
| Bonus clarity | Wagering, caps, expiry and game weighting are easy to find and understand. |
| Payments | CAD support, Interac e-Transfer and other methods, fees and limits. |
| Withdrawals | Stated conditions, verification policy and pending periods. |
| Games and providers | Variety and clear game information. |
| Support | Channels, languages and clarity of answers. |
| Safer play | Limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and links to help. |
What do we verify and what don't we claim?
We read public pages, terms and registers. We do not claim that an operator accepts players from a given province, holds a specific licence, or pays within a stated time unless we have confirmed it from an official source. Where we have not, we say so and give you the steps to check, as in the /en-ca/guides/how-to-check-if-a-casino-is-legal/ guide.
How does the licensing landscape affect scoring?
Canada's market is provincial. Ontario has a regulated market with registration through the AGCO, Alberta opened a regulated market in 2026, and other provinces rely mainly on provincial platforms. Operators licensed elsewhere, such as in Kahnawake or Malta, are scored on transparency, but a licence from another place is not approval from your province. We explain the context in /en-ca/guides/online-casino-regulation-canada/.
How is commercial interest kept separate?
We have commercial agreements with some operators. They do not pay for score or position, and we do not edit reviews at their request. See /en-ca/affiliate-disclosure/ and our /en-ca/editorial-policy/ for the rules.
What are the limits of our scores?
A score is a snapshot. Terms, licences and payment methods change. Treat the score as a starting point and confirm everything on the operator's site and in the regulator's register.
Frequently asked questions
Do casinos pay to rank higher?
No. Commercial agreements do not determine position or score. We may earn a commission if you register through our links, and we say so openly. The order of the ranking is an editorial assessment that we revise when information changes.
Do you test with real money?
We do not claim real-money tests that we have not done. Our reviews are based on public information, terms and registers, and we say so. Where we cannot confirm a detail, such as payout speed, we do not publish a figure.
How often do you update the ranking?
We review the pages periodically and show the update date on each one. Offers and terms change often, so always confirm current details with the operator before registering. Each page shows its update date, and we revise scores when terms change.
